Our bottom line

Cholibrium is a 10-mushroom dietary supplement sold by Simple Promise. The manufacturer positions it as a heart-health and antioxidant formula. Our view is more restrained: the formula contains recognizable mushroom ingredients with published research around individual mushrooms, but ingredient research is not the same as a clinical trial of Cholibrium itself.

Best fit: someone who specifically wants a multi-mushroom supplement and is comfortable treating it as an optional wellness product—not a replacement for cholesterol-lowering medication, blood-pressure treatment, or medical care.

What the evidence can—and cannot—tell us

Research exists on individual medicinal mushrooms, but it varies substantially in quality and relevance. A Cochrane review of Reishi for cardiovascular risk factors included only a handful of trials and did not establish a robust clinical benefit. A small randomized trial of shiitake food bars in adults with borderline-high cholesterol reported a triglyceride reduction after 66 days, but that intervention and dose are not equivalent to Cholibrium.

A broader review also cautions that traditional use and laboratory findings should not be treated as proof that mushroom preparations treat human disease. That is why Mushroom Measure does not score Cholibrium as “clinically proven” for lowering cholesterol.

Pros and tradeoffs

Potential positives

Convenient multi-mushroom format, clear ingredient list on the manufacturer page, vegan positioning, and a long stated return window.

Important limitations

No product-specific randomized clinical trial was located in our research. A blend also makes it harder to know whether each ingredient is present at a research-relevant amount unless exact extract quantities are disclosed on the label.

Medication caution

The manufacturer itself advises speaking with a doctor if you take statins, blood-pressure medications, or blood thinners.

Price and value

At the manufacturer’s current one-time pricing, larger bundles reduce the per-bottle price. Do not buy more bottles solely because of a countdown or scarcity message; choose a quantity based on your budget, return terms, and clinician guidance.
